We are delighted to announce that Eric Vandenberg, a Grade 10 art student at Alberta Distance Learning Centre, is the third place winner in the 2012 Environmental Artworks Foundation of Alberta Contest in the photography category. The theme of this year's contest was My Favorite Outdoor Place. The image to your left is Eric's winning entry. Congratulations Eric - it is truly a beautiful photo!

The National Gallery of Canada has launched the second edition of "So You Want To Be an Artist?" Contest. It is nation-wide contest for young Canadian artists between the ages of 16 and 19.
The goal is to engage with youth from every region of the country, to get you to create art about an issue of importance to you, and to share your creativity. Contest Deadline: March 18, 2012 All accepted entries will be showcased online between March 26 and April 30 where the public can vote for their favourite artworks by using the Facebook “Like” button. The 12 works with the most votes will be displayed at the National Gallery of Canada for a month where they will be judged by a jury of experts. The top three artists whose entries are selected will receive outstanding prizes, and the grand prize winner will enjoy a behind-the-scenes visit with NCG experts.
